Yay....the tree is down and I have my house back. Good riddance to the red and back with the pink. I am so not a red person or at least where my house is concerned.  I hop everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was great!!!! Abigail got lots and lots of stuff. Now we just have to find a place to put it all. Mark's new computer came...excuse me, OUR new computer. We don't have everything switched over too the new one yet and unfortunately I'm STILL waiting to get my photo programs loaded up so i can scrp and show ya'll pictures from Christmas. The new computer came with a photo program and I did upload 2 pics. to see how it was. I't ok but it's no Adobe. It is going to take some time getting used to the new keyboard and mouse. I haven't used a mouse in over 3 years so I'm pretty much all over the screen trying to work the stupid mouse.

Well, I got a new lens for my camera curtesy of Santa. It's a zoom (85-200). The two hotos I managed to get on the computer were taken with my new lens. I was amazed at the quality when I printed this picture of Albert out.

Pic883

If you look at the picture in real life it seems like you can see every individual hairs on him and believe me he's got a lot of hair. This is my new favorite picture of him and that doesn't happen often. His mother-in- law, Linda will definately be getting this in the mail. I also want to say Congratulations to Linda again for making the dt over at All Moments Remembered. Very proud of you my friend.

In the next day or so I will post a link to the new book coming out that I have contributed to along with some other FABULOUS artists. Very excited about this. Stay close so I can let everyone know.

The Breed

To those of you who are not dog lovers you may want to avoid this post. If you are not a Dacshund lover you definately want to avoid this post.

My Dad got his first Dachshund as a teenager, Bismark. Later on when my brother and I came along it was Dacshunds for us as well. I have been so blessed and fortunate to have had Sam, Snitzel, Scooter, Droopy, and Clyde in my life. They were all wonderful and brilliant dogs. Now I am owned by the famous Albert. To those of you who have never had a doxie in your life here's a little bit of information about the breed:

  • They have a very distinct look they can give you...talk about some eyes...whoa!
  • Typically, you won't find a doxie that retrieves. Well, they may retrieve something but they certaintly are not going to bring it back to unless it fits within their agenda.
  • They love to dig holes in the yard and burrow in the blankets and clothes.
  • When sleeping, they have a certain way...they look like a big doughnut or bagel.
  • They can be difficult to house break...it's an agenda thing. They do not mean to disobediant. Sometimes they just don't see the point in going outside.
  • Doxies also have an independent nature which makes for good hunting dogs
  • They have ferocious barks, a bark that doesn't sound like it comes from a little weiner dog...more like a Great Dane.
  • Though they can be independent they always want to be with their human. I can't even go to the bathroom without my little looooooong shadow.
  • They tend to be one-person dogs but that doesn't mean they don't like other people. They just know who their person is.
  • Doxies are very brave and can make good watch dogs.
  • They tend to be excellent with children although like any breed some are not. I personally have never been in contact with any that have not been. But I know there are some out there.

I am biased about the breed, I know. But once you have been owned by a Dachshund the chances are you will not have another breed. I for one will always have a doxie in my life. These are the Doxies in my life.

Hubba_hubba

This is my Albert.

Oscar_photo

This is Oscar. I have deemed myself his Godmother. He owns Holly Terra. Holly and I met because of this cute little thing. Isn't Oscar just the cutest? I love this dog even though I have never met him. Crap, I could just eat him up.

Abbie3

And last but not least....Abbie. Little Miss Abbie owns Linda Rodgers. Abbie just happens to be Albert's online love. Isn't she beautiful? I love me some long Dachshund.

Oscar and Abbie are my online babies. I love them as if they were my own.

Now I will leave you all with a little poem.

God’s Dachshund

He took the softness of a spring breeze for his gentleness, the smoothness of fresh summer grass for his coat, the deep mystery of the universe for his eyes, the fury of a wild storm for his energy, the freshness of a babbling brook for his temperament, the courage of a lion for his heart, He took the never-ending love of Christ for his devotion, and when His work was done God said, "this Most Beloved of Creatures I give unto thee."  Author Unknown

Baby_its_cold_2

Here is the latest challenge at Scrapping The Music. The song is Baby, It's Cold Outside. This was a pretty simple Lo for me...not much paper or embellishments. The background was made from two photos of ice covered trees. I thought it was kind of cool looking. Also, Scrapping the Music is looking for more design team members so check out the site for more information. Submit your work and you could be the next lucky member. How cool would that be?

NO! NO!

Christmas_tree_at_night_2

Christmas_tree_in_day

Oh Christmas tree...Oh Christmas tree...why did your lights go out?

After I spent 2 days putting lights on my tree they decided to go out last night. I asked Mark why he unplugged the lights and he said he didn't...it's like him to do that. So, I casually walked over to the tree and they WERE still plugged in. Damn it! So I will spend the rest of the day dismanteling my tree. Then I will go buy ALL new lights. OR I will take it out by the curb for trash day.

Someone tell me to inhale and exhale!

December 03, 2007

Finally getting around to updating this ol' blog. I promise after the new year I will get better. Ok, who believes that?

A little toot for me. I got layout of the day over at Two peas It' not the best scan in the world.

Dream_a_christmas_dream

Here is another recent Lo.

The_moment

Yea, it was a bad scan too.

Here are some goofy pictures of Albert. I think he is trying to be mailed out to California to his girlfriend's house.

Also, if any of you remember the little doxie girl that I wanted to adopt from DARE (see sidebar) that was part of an animal cruelty case...she has found a forever home somewhere. She has been adopted. I am very thankful.

See you all later.
